Trenton Community School Site Finalized

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRENTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL SITE FINALIZED

TRENTON, NS – June 30, 2026 – Following an extensive site assessment review, the new Trenton middle school will be built on Park Road, about 200 metres east of Trenton Park. The Town of Trenton and the Province of Nova Scotia agree that this is an ideal location for the school. Design and pre-construction work is already underway, and construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2026.

The new school will replace Trenton Elementary and Trenton Middle schools with a new pre-primary to Grade 8 school that will accommodate up to 300 students.

"Our priority is always to build the best learning environments for our students. This location offers an ideal foundation that backs on to natural park space that is perfect for children while ensuring safety and accessibility for families.”
— Pictou Centre MLA Danny MacGillivray, on behalf of the Honourable Brendan Maguire, NS Minister of Education

"We are thrilled that we were able to work with the Province to find a viable location for our new school. The location will not affect our park or trail system and provides a shovel-ready site for construction to begin soon that will ultimately deliver the best product for our children, which is what we all want.”
— Mayor Alec Dove, Town of Trenton

"As parents and community members, our top priority is ensuring that our new school meets the needs of children and their families. After reviewing the site's advantages with the Province, we are very pleased with the outcome. This location provides the best overall space for the new school and will serve our students, families and community well for many years to come.”
— Alison Elsworth-Cameron, Trenton School Advisory Committee Chair
